Sam Giamanco, Licensed Mental Health Therapist

Sam Giamanco, owner of Sesh Therapy, is a National Board-Certified Counselor and Louisiana Licensed Professional Counselor, holding a Master of Science in Mental Clinical Illness specializing in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy from Southeastern Louisiana University. Since 2018, she has studied and worked in the therapy field, using a wide range of modalities to uniquely fit individual client’s needs.

Giamanco is also the Assistant Clinical Director of a local rehabilitation facility, and in her spare time, works with individuals navigating clashing mental health and legal struggles to achieve community reintegration.

How are you hoping to transform our community? I’m currently working on furthering the counseling field as a whole by bridging the gap between traditional therapy and modern technology with a goal of making mental health accuracy and efficiency the new standard for clinical care. Recently, I partnered with another local therapist to announce the launch of a mental therapy app called Pinpoint Diagnostic. This app is available to all clinicians, mental health professionals and counselors worldwide, and utilizes AI to give accurate diagnostics to mental health concerns, making treatment more streamlined and misdiagnosis a thing of the past. The hope of this app is to see a ripple effect changing the tide of mental health growing in our community by assisting clinicians in identifying diagnostics much earlier in the therapy therapeutic process.

What is most special to you about the Greater Baton Rouge area? Baton Rouge is incredibly special to me as I was born and raised here. I have lived all over, but there is nothing like the draw of the south to bring me back. I also have a tight knit group of support here within our local females group, Geaux Naked. I operate behind the scenes but stand in as the resident GN Therapist for females in our community to have direct access to health, wellness, and relationship guidance and support in each other. Geaux Naked’s unique presence as a support system is truly inspiring and adds a special touch to our community. This group’s work in uplifting and empowering each other is done in such a meaningful way, making Baton Rouge intimately innovative in its focus to better the community.

What services do you offer at Sesh Therapy? I work with individuals, couples, and families of all ages and approach counseling with humor and grace while keeping clients accountable to achieving their mental health goals. I am also trained in trauma focused therapy using EMDR, I am certified in Anger Management and certified in Prepare/Enrich Marriage counseling in which I enjoy helping couples achieve cohesion. I also work with a wide range of presenting issues, including but not limited to, trauma, crisis, low self esteem, adjustment struggles, life changes, identity confusion, addiction, mood/personality disorders, anxiety, depression, grief, communication, and parenting issues. I love what I do and truly couldn’t picture myself doing anything else.
